 Cobán was founded on August 4, 1543 and King Charles V of Spain, awarded him the title of Imperial City.
In Cobán are worthy attractions including its beautiful cathedral built in 1543 to become the Bishop of Verapaz. It has a beautiful altarpieces and cabinet to the right of the altar are the jewels of silver arrived in Spain after its founding as candlesticks, ciriales and missals. The church of El Calvario corresponds early nineteenth century and was built on a hill which overlooks the entire city. To get to it should reach 131 degrees with their respective filled switchbacks that cling to the small hill that serves as its base. Of its natural attractions is La Presa y La Colina Spa. Also nearby are the Semuc Champey of very famous for its natural beauty, other sites of importance to visit is caves are very famous for its impressive size and shapes that can be observed. |
